Two and a Half Years Old!

Brendan turned two and a half today! I wanted to write a blog today just because I am continuously awestruck at how fast he is growing up. I want to remember all of the little things that he says and does!

My favorite addition to Brendan's skill set is singin
g. I never thought a toddler singing could be so very precious... but when he does it, it melts my heart! His favorites are "ABCs" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". Right this second he is singing about "Mommy and Daddy".

About a week ago we finally switched B's bed to a "toddler bed" after he made his first escape during a nap time. We were surprised it took so long, but were grateful that it did! The transition went so much smother than I though it would! I think he really likes knowing that he's in a "big boy bed".

Before nap time and bed time we read several books together. This has become one of B's favorite things to do. His current fav is "Little Blue Truck" and "Sneeze"... which is what B calls a book about an elephant that is about to sneeze. It is really cute.

Brendan has become quite the talker. He is making up for lost time, I guess. Now he enjoys telling us about airplanes, animals, boats, trains (lots of trains), cars, trucks, and pretty much anything with wheels. He tells us his ABC's and can point most of them out. I'm always surprised at how quickly he learns new words and memorizes things like songs and the books that we read to him.

I think the thing that I love most about B is how affectionate he is. He loves to cuddle. I usually get to get him up from his nap when I get home. We cuddle on the couch and watch a show together (usually Thomas the Train... his favorite). When Jordan or I leave he will say: "Bye, Wuv you!" For kisses he puts his face close and says "muah".

B is definitely my child. He often requests cookies, ice cream,
chocolate milk, and even just "sugar". Do not let this fool you though... this is not all we feed our child. His normal favorites are grilled cheese, quesadillas, peanut butter and jelly, chicken fingers, apples, bananas, and pizza. In all honesty, B will hardly ever willingly consume veggies. Perhaps he thinks it will interfere with the filming of Veggie Tales? Anyways, we give him V8 Fusion and vitamins to help compensate.

I think I just realized recently that Brendan has crossed over from toddler to ALL BOY! He loves to climb anything and everything... and the part that scares me most is that he's physically able to. A stroll around the walking train by our apartment is anything but casual. His favorite thing to do is feed the turtles... or whatever will come eat the bread crumbs we throw over the bridge. There are workout stations along the trail at which we have to stop and make use of. I think "balancing" is B's fav.

"Balancing"

In other news, we have begun the tedious task of potty training. B has gone several times... but we still have a ways to go.

In general, life is just amazing with our little bundle of energy. He is always wanting to explore and learn new things. He is VERY strong willed, but very sweet too. It is good that he is sweet... because I don't think I'd make it otherwise. Jordan and I are so blessed to have such a wonderful son... anf hopefully more to come soon... but not too soon ;)
